Hitters

Jose Vargas (Trosky Texas 2022 Ina)

Trosky Texas 2022-Ina’s Jose Vargas was on fire this weekend. The uncommitted 2022 from Clear Springs (TX) was an all-around beast and spearheaded the production for his squad. The sweet-swinging left-handed hitter has a very fundamentally sound and repeatable swing that allows him to easily hit balls where they’re pitched. His selective approach, plus bat, plus speed, and smoothness in the field make him a prototypical shortstop prospect to keep an eye on.

Kevin Duran (Dulins Dodgers)

Dulins Dodgers’ Kevin Duran did it all this week in two different tournaments! The 2021 graduate from Cleburne (TX) put together quite a performance at the dish as he tallied a whopping 15 hits and more than half were for extra bases. The RHH proved to be able to hit the ball to all fields but really impressed with his power to alleys. Duran is an intriguing prospect that does a little bit of everything and can impact the game in a variety of ways.

Shane Martin (Dynasty Black 2021 Bender)

Dynasty Black 2021-Bender’s Shane Martin was destroying baseballs this weekend at the Connie Mack World Series Qualifier. The 2021 McNeese St. signee showcased a powerful swing from the right side to generate a solid launch angle. His ability to hit the ball to all fields and over the fence with runners on base is certainly impressive. Very good college offensive prospect to watch out for.

Austin Beck (Dallas Patriots 2021)

Dallas Patriots 2021’s Austin Beck was an instrumental piece in his squad punching their tickets to the Connie Mack Championship this weekend. The 2021 Angelo St. signee sprayed balls over the field and employed a mature approach at the plate. The right-handed batter crushes balls in the gaps with a nice compact swing for consistent pop. Solid MIF prospect to watch in college.

Robert Hunt (USA Prime Houston Texas 9)

USA Prime Houston Texas 9’s Robert Hunt was on fire at the dish during the Five Tool Texas SHSU event. The uncommitted 2022 from Bridgeland (TX) was a doubles machine as nearly half his hits this weekend were two-baggers. The RHH showcased easy pop and quick bat speed that paired well with a powerful lower half. Hunt was able to get extended and catch up to pitcher’s fastballs to drive the ball to all fields. Keep an eye on this one as the summer progresses.

Adam Vaughn (Canes Scout Premier)

Canes Scout Premier’s Adam Vaughn proved to be an offensive force at the dish all weekend long in the Five Tool Texas SHSU tournament. The uncommitted 2022 from Cedar Park (TX) showcased his ability to produce for his team and deliver a big hit when needed as he totaled 12 RBI. The RHH is quiet in the box and explodes at contact with a quick bat to match. Vaughn hit for both power and average and is certainly a prospect to keep tabs on in the coming months.

Jack Daron (Houston Athletics 16U Black)

Houston Athletics 16U Black’s Jack Daron was quite the power threat at the dish this weekend in the Five Tool Texas SHSU event. The uncommitted 2023 from George Ranch (TX) put together a spectacular performance at the dish with four home runs and 11 RBI. The RHH proved he has the ability to be a stereotypical clean-up hitter and displayed a mature approach at the dish. Daron has an impressive frame and will be an interesting prospect to watch over the next two years.

Zachary Pearrow (Dallas Patriots 15U Brooks)

Dallas Patriots 15U-Brooks’ Zachary Pearrow was the definition of a “dude” on both sides of the ball this weekend. The uncommitted 2024 from Waxahachie (TX) was an OPS machine at the plate and almost unhittable on the bump. The right-handed hitter does a nice job putting the barrel to the ball, generating plenty of exit velocity and extra-base hits. His over-the-top delivery from the left side on the mound makes it difficult for hitters to differentiate between fastball and breaking ball out of the hand. Legitimate two-way prospect.

Will Franklin (Dallas Patriots 17U Durham)

Dallas Patriots 17U-Durham’s Will Franklin was a terror for pitchers to face this weekend. The uncommitted 2022 from Amarillo (TX) delivered an amazing all-around performance at the plate using a selective approach to drive in runs and get on base by any means. The right-handed first baseman does a great job at getting his whole body involved in his swing to generate power to all fields and make consistent hard contact. He is a college-ready offensive prospect to watch out for.

Matthew Stancliff Jr (Prime Cavemen Muñoz 17/18U)

Prime Cavemen Muñoz 17/18U’s Matthew Stancliff Jr. was on a tear at the plate this weekend. The uncommitted 2022 from Burleson Centennial (TX) showcased a polished and advanced mindset in the box to deliver run production and extra-base hits for his squad. The left-handed hitter gets the most out of his frame at 5’8” – 130 lbs with a clean and repeatable swing that gets plenty of extension to hit balls into the gaps. Very good prospect to be on the lookout for.

Zephyr Clement (Wrecking Crew)

Wrecking Crew’s Zephyr Clement put together quite the performance this weekend at the Five Tool California Fresno Show. The uncommitted 2023 from Redondo Union (CA) put together a spectacular Friday has he totaled 13 bases in two games. The RHH really looked to drive the ball the other way as two of his three home runs were hit to right-centerfield. This dude is certainly one to keep an eye on over the course of the summer.

Pitchers

Jacob Prokarym (Dallas Patiots 2021)

Dallas Patriots 2021’s Jacob Prokarym was on another level on the mound this weekend. The 2021 Ranger College signee refused to allow any runs across the plate in nearly ten innings of work. The left-handed pitcher hides the ball well behind his big frame and has a surprisingly quick delivery for his size, allowing him to dominate batters with a fastball-knuckle curve-changeup mix. Excellent pitching prospect for four-year college programs to watch.

Reese Bassinger (NTX Elite McCrummen)

NTX Elite-McCrummen’s Reese Bassinger was nearly flawless this weekend at NTX Classic Satellite Series. The 2021 Odessa College signee was one hit short of a no-hitter in his start and showcased his best stuff. What he lacks in top-end velocity is easily made up for with his pitch repertoire. The crafty right-hander utilizes a ¾ delivery to supplement his insane five-pitch mix that features a fastball, changeup, curveball, slider, and splitter to keep hitters guessing at the plate. Very nice college pitching prospect to keep eyes on.

Jace Newkirk (Team Venom 2022)

Team Venom 2022’s Jace Newkirk was lights out on the bump in the Five Tool Texas SHSU event. The uncommitted 2023 from Lake Creek (TX) was untouchable all afternoon and racked up a ridiculous 13 strikeouts in five innings of work. The RHP showed off put-away stuff and dominated hitters. There’s lots to like with this dude and he will be worth keeping an eye on as the summer progresses.

Colby Turner (Houston Heat 2023 Bay)

Houston Heat 2023 Bay’s Colby Turner was locked in on the mound this weekend at the Five Tool Texas SHSU event. The uncommitted 2023 from Hudson (TX) worked an effective fastball-curveball combo and kept hitters off balance all afternoon. The LHP showcased the ability to tunnel pitches as well as fill up the strike zone to overwhelm hitters. Turner is only going to continue to fil into an impressive frame and will be interesting to watch as he progresses. Keep an eye on this one.
