Dudes of the Weekend: Week 7

Hitters

Justin Vossos (Texas Twelve Maroon 2022)

Justin Vossos led the offensive charge for Texas Twelve Maroon on their way to a title at the AABC Don Mattingly World Series. The 2022 Texas A&M commit from Ridge Point (TX) showcased excellent barrel-to-ball skills that produced consistent hard contact and three bombs on the week. The RHH has a very clean swing without any frills and does a great job of getting his lower half involved to generate power on any pitch. The Joseph R. Cooper Batting Champion of the Mattingly World Series will be a guy to watch on the big stage in the coming years.

Anthony Silva (Texas Twelve Maroon 2022)

Texas Twelve Maroon’s Anthony Silva was another instrumental piece in his squad’s title run at the AABC Don Mattingly World Series this weekend. The 2022 TCU commit from Clark (TX) repeatedly mashed balls with high exit velocity to the pull side causing more than half of his knocks to be of the extra base variety. The right-handed hitter starts from a very relaxed upright setup but gets into his legs and engages the lower half as the pitcher goes into his delivery allowing him to crush baseballs. Silva still has plenty of room to fill out physically and can be a game changer at the next level for the Horned Frogs.

Elandis Taylor (DFW Twins Reds 15U)

DFW Twins Red 15U’s Elandis Taylor was on fire at the dish all weekend on the way to his squad’s title in the 15U American division of the DFW Classic Satellite Series. The uncommitted 2024 from Valley Mills (TX) doesn’t let his smaller stature affect his hit tool at all as he was about as tough an out as you can be all tournament long. The right-handed hitter showcased a very mature offensive approach with five walks drawn to only one strikeout in 21 plate appearances and flashed plus speed with five swiped bags. He is a young prospect who has plenty of time to mature physically and has the potential to be a plus all-around prospect for college coaches to be on the watch for.

Hill Wiley (DFW Twins 15U Red)

DFW Twins 15U Red’s Hill Wiley was a double-hitting machine this past weekend at the Five Tool Texas DFW Satellite Series. The uncommitted 2024 from Paschal (TX) was instrumental in his team’s run to a championship. The LHH was on base all weekend long as he tallied eight hits and reached via six walks. An impressive approach from a young hitter is something that can separate Wiley down the road. Keep and eye on this dude as he continues to hit the weights and add strength.

Cameron Staton (Chico Aces 2023)

Chico Aces 2023’s Cameron Staton showed off some impressive pop at the Five Tool California NorCal Summer Classic. The uncommitted 2023 from Placer (CA) belted two home runs over the weekend and sprayed the ball all over the yard. The sweet-swinging lefty is quiet in the box but generates power with a quick bat and strong lower half. This dude looks to be a mature hitter in the box and has certainly not even come close to his ceiling. Watch out for this one over the next few summers. Get on him now!

The uncommitted 2023 from Rancho Cucamonga showed off some Gold Glove type defense over at the hot corner as well as impressing in the box. The LHH did whatever it took to reach base as he had as many free passes as hits. McCombs also showcased the jets with two stolen bases and a big triple on Saturday afternoon. This dude is an intriguing prospect that has real value especially with his glove.

Pitchers

Shane Sdao (Texas Twelve Maroon 2022)

Texas Twelve Maroon’s Shane Sdao dominated the competition on his way to being named the Lincoln Hackim MVP of the Don Mattingly WS this weekend. The 2022 Texas A&M commit from Lake Creek (TX) showcased his deadly fastball/curveball mix in both of his outings to remind everyone why he’s a future Aggie. The LHP uses his lanky frame to whip balls into the zone at a high spin rate with a lot of late life. The sky is the limit for this kid.

Stat Line: 11 IP, 11K, 2H, ER, 4 BB

Joel Burgess Jr. (Trosky Texas 2022 Ina)

Trosky Texas 2022 Ina’s Joel Burgess Jr. backed up his Division I pedigree this weekend at the AABC Don Mattingly World Series. The 2021 Texas State signee from Atascocita (TX) dominated in every facet on his way to a 13-strikeout performance while only allowing three hits and giving out a single free pass. The LHP delivers his fastball/curveball mix from a ¾ arm slot that batters can’t hit unless they’re absolutely dialed in due to nearly 20 MPH in difference between the two. Burgess Jr. is a nice pitching prospect to watch at the college level in the coming years.

Andrew Ramos (Offspeed Athletics Blue)

Offspeed Athletics Blue’s Andrew Ramos turned in a whale of an outing in the championship game of the 15U National division in the DFW Classic Satellite Series. The uncommitted 2024 from Randall (TX) was absolutely dialed in on the big stage, striking out 14 batters and refusing to give out a single free pass in his outing. The RHP obviously has good stuff on the mound, but he has also shown off his plus bat all summer long. He is a prospect with legitimate two-way potential that college coaches need to watch.

Jordan Jaramillo (Arlington Spartans)

Arlington Spartans’ Jordan Jaramillo brought some of his best stuff in two outings this weekend at the DFW Classic Satellite Series. The uncommitted 2024 from Bowie (TX) proved to be a go-to guy in his team’s rotation and backed it up with two dazzling performances. The LHP isn’t afraid to pitch to contact, but also knows how to miss barrels when needed. He has the potential be a nice left-handed piece in a college staff if he continues to perform at this level in the next couple years.

Dylan Buechele (NTX Bulls 15U Norman)

NTX Bulls 15U Norman’s Dylan Buechele turned in a nearly spotless outing for his squad this weekend at the DFW Classic Satellite Series. The uncommitted 2024 from Arlington (TX) shutout the opposition on the way to a 12-0 victory for the Bulls. The RHP proved he can pound the strike zone by walking zero batters and striking them out at a rate of two per inning. With plenty of time to develop in high school, Buechele will be a pitching prospect to watch.

Ethan Jezierski (Batter’s Box Majeweski)

Batter’s Box Majewski’s Ethan Jezierski absolutely dominated hitters to deliver a win in his outing this weekend. The uncommitted 2022 from Brenham (TX) looked very calculated with the way he attacked batters and sent them back to the bench with ease. The RHP delivers from a low ¾ slot that gives his fastball a good amount of run into right-handed batters and a sharp breaking ball he can place on either side of the plate. This high school senior will be a guy to watch in the coming season for programs at the next level.

Event: 2D/Five Tool Texas Classic

Stat Line: 7 IP, 13K, 2H, 0 ER, 0 BB

Cody Myers (PBA Stars 17U Navy)

PBA Stars 17U Navy’s Cody Myers turned out a dominant outing on Thursday afternoon in the 2D/Five Tool Texas Classic. The uncommitted 2022 from Clear Brook (TX) showcased swing and miss stuff that can best be attributed to his ability to hide the baseball. The LHP ran his fastball up to 80 MPH and was able to locate his secondary pitches to bury hitters late in at bats. Myers is a strike throwing machine that can make an impact in a college program.

Hunter Stockton (HP Baseball 2024 Bubb)

HP Baseball 2024 Bubb’s Hunter Stockton was nearly un-hittable in his outing in the 2D/Five Tool Texas Classic on Sunday afternoon. The uncommitted 2024 from The Woodlands (TX) attacked the outer third of the strike zone and made it difficult for hitters to piece up his fastball. The RHP was up to 81 MPH and snapped off some impressive breaking balls to keep hitters guessing. Stockton has loads of room to fill into an already impressive frame and continue to jump in velocity. This dude is certainly a prospect to keep an eye on as he matures and add strength. Keep an eye on this one.

The uncommitted 2021 from Pleasant Grove (CA) put together one of the most impressive performances this summer as he racked up 14 punchouts in a seven inning complete game. The RHP was pumping gas as his fastball touched 88 MPH and also featured a devastating slider that proved to be a put away pitch. Pernetti is a 2021 high school graduate that is looking for a home and is certainly capable of providing quality innings to a college program. Get on this dude immediately!

Joshua Imboden (Marucci Athletics 2023 Gardner)

Marucci Athletics 2023 Gardner’s Joshua Imboden was downright nasty on the bump in his start Friday night at the Five Tool Arizona AZ Fall Classic Qualifier. The uncommitted 2023 from Sandra Day O’Connor (AZ) mixed and matched his fastball with a hammer curveball to overwhelm the opposition. The LHP has good arm side run on his fastball and even better depth on his breaking ball. Impressive stuff from this dude.

Stat Line: 6 IP, 10K, 3H

Dylan Proost (Alpha SoCal)

Alpha SoCal’s Dylan Proost proved to be a workhorse arm this weekend at the Five Tool Arizona AZ Fall Classic Qualifier. The uncommitted 2023 from St. John Bosco (CA) showcased a live arm as his fastball sat in the mid 80s and leaned heavily on a hammer curveball. The RHP was featured in two different games and can be a pitcher coaches rely on late in games or to provide a quality start. Proost has the chance to continue increasing velocity and become a premium arm.
