Dudes of the Weekend: Week 9

Hitters

Andrew Isdale (Slammers Blitzer)

Slammers Blitzer’s Andrew Isdale had an eye-popping weekend at the plate on his way to having the most RBI in any Five Tool event. The uncommitted 2022 from Chaparral (CO) utilized a gap-to-gap approach to destroy baseballs to and over the wall. The RHH has a very clean stroke and gets great extension through the ball, allowing him to easily tap into his natural power and hit four-baggers. This kid has an excellent approach at the plate and will only get better as he matures physically.

Evan Brown (Boise Baseball Academy 16U)

Boise Baseball Academy 16U’s Evan Brown put on a launch angle clinic in the mountains at the Colorado Regional Championships. The uncommitted 2024 from Boise (ID) showcased plus power to center and the pull side with all but one of hits being for extra bases. The right-handed hitter has a very deep load with his backside and hands which allows him to explode with the zone and generate that beautiful launch angle repeatedly.

The uncommitted 2023 from Strake Jesuit (TX) employed a very mature approach and sprayed line drives in the gaps with ease to fill up the stat sheet. The right-handed hitter has a very physical frame and stays within his swing to easily hit balls where they’re pitched. He’s advanced offensively for his age and college scouts need to take notice of this kid.

The uncommitted 2024 from Lamar (TX) reached base in 10/12 plate appearances and did it without striking out a single time. The RHH looks very relaxed with his setup in the box, but once he engages he uses his quick hands and compact cut to hit balls with high exit velo. He’s a kid with prototypical size for the corner infield and can be a scary offensive prospect when he adds even more strength onto his frame.

Event: Five Tool World Series

Ryan Saunders (HP Baseball 2022 Williams)

HP Baseball 2022 Williams’ Ryan Saunders refused to go back to the dugout once he stepped into the box this weekend. The uncommitted 2022 from Clear Lake (TX) was patient and deliberate with his at bats but made the most of it when he made contact. The right-handed hitter has more moving parts in his swing than most, but the ball just sounds different when it comes off the bat with Ryan. He made repeated violent contact with the ball pole-to-pole and his 0/6, K/BB ratio on the weekend was unbelievable. This kid is a can’t miss prospect going into his final year of high school ball.

Event: Five Tool World Series

Stat Line: 7-8, 2 2B, HR, 7 RBI, 9R, 6 BB, 3 SB

David Cimmino (Hooks)

The uncommitted 2022 from Copperas Cove (TX) proved to fit the role of a middle-of-the-order hitter as he racked up 11 RBI and blasted two home runs on Sunday afternoon. The RHP is quiet in the box and really lets his hands work to supply power and spray the ball all over the yard. This dude is an intriguing prospect that has plenty of room to build upon his already big power bat. In addition to an incredible display at the dish, Cimmino turned out a dominant outing on the mound as he racked up 11 strikeouts in 7 innings. Impressive stuff all around from this dude.

The uncommitted 2023 from Ennis (TX) showed off some serious wheels as five of his eight hits were triples. The right-handed hitter looks very relaxed in the box and uses his naturally strong hands to make concise cuts sending balls into gaps and over the wall. He is a valuable prospect with his ability to hit at the catcher position.

The uncommitted 2022 from Mission Hills (CA) reached 90 MPH with his heater and paired it with a deadly slider making an un-hittable combination. The RHP isn’t the largest in stature at 5’10” so there is some effort in his delivery, but looks very natural and deliberate nonetheless. He without doubt can be a contributor to a college staff and will be a player to watch going into his senior year of high school.

The uncommitted 2022 from Aledo (TX) is a big kid a fastball-curveball mix and plenty of stamina to go deep into outings. Brandon Arvidson (LBC National Moench)

LBC National Moench’s Brandon Arvidson was nearly perfect in his outing at the Five Tool World Series. The 2022 Texas State commit from Dripping Springs (TX) showcased an unreal four-pitch arsenal and heater up to 89 MPH which overpowered hitters with ease. The LHP has a very lanky frame at 6’4” 190 pounds and one of the more unique deliveries out there which makes all four pitches play up. This kid will be a problem at the next level when he further refines his delivery that already has him among the top left-handed prep arms in Texas.

Dynasty 2022 Harvey’s Ryan McClish dominated the opposition in his outing this weekend at the Five Tool World Series. The uncommitted 2022 from Kingwood (TX) showcased a three-pitch mix which prevented any runs from crossing the plate while he was on the bump. The RHP has a smooth delivery with some effort to get velo on the heater, but his slider is a disgusting sharp breaker making the changeup a nice bonus. He is a solid arm to watch out for in the coming season.
