Hitters

Tyler Chalk (CBA/SSC 2024 National)

CBA/SSC 2024 National’s Tyler Chalk put together an impressive weekend at the dish in the Five Tool California Sacramento Show. The uncommitted 2024 from Vacaville (CA) totaled a staggering 10 hits at the dish, drove in eight runs, and proved to be a problem on the basepaths with four stolen bags. The RHH has good bat speed and showed the ability to drive the ball the other way throughout the event. This dude certainly has a plus hit tool and should be a name worth watching moving forward.

Logan Mathias (Mid Penn BC)

Mid Penn BC’s Logan Mathias was on fire at the dish in the Five Tool California Sacramento Show. The uncommitted 2025 from Sequoia (CA) was a hitting machine as all 11 of his hits were singles. The RHH certainly has a knack for getting on base and taking what pitchers give him. Mathias also came up big in several key spots for his squad as he was a key run producing contributor with 10 RBI over the course of the weekend. This dude has the make up of a future lead off hitter that can cause problems for opposing teams.

Beck Zimmerman (Shiner Stars 16U)

Shiner Stars 16U’s Beck Zimmerman shined at the plate in the Five Tool South Texas Summer Classic. The uncommitted 2025 from Flatonia (TX) tallied hits in all nine of his at bats over the course of the weekend and did plenty of damage with a double, two triples. and a solo home run. The LHH obviously showcased his ability to hit for average but also impressed with his ability to run the bases and also with his discipline at the plate. All in all, this dude was extremely locked in on the offensive side of the ball and will be a fun name to keep tabs on throughout the rest of the summer and as he transitions into his sophomore year.

Stat Line: 9-9, 2B, 2 3B, HR, RBI, 11R, 7 BB, 3 SB

Reed Mallett (C2 Baseball 2024 Silver)

Reed Mallett of C2 Baseball 2024 Silver had himself a weekend, going 8-12 with a double, two triples, five RBI, six runs scored, and two walks. He has a swing from the left side that can provide power while also showing he was able to adjust by count and get bae hits. The plate coverage was impressive and he was also able to go the other way with it if needed. The 2024 uncommitted lefty from Deer Park (TX) has an interesting load with a bit of a hitch in his hands, but his timing is well done and it helps him get to the ball whenever he needs it. The feel this dude showed at the plate this weekend was impressive and the stats are there to back it up.

Stat Line: 8-12, 2B, 2 3B, 5 RBI, 6R, 2 BB

Diesel Gonzalez (Texas Twelve 2024 Silver)

Diesel Gonzalez of Texas Twelve 2024 Silver was providing the thump for his team this weekend. The right hander went 7-10 with two doubles, a triple, four runs driven in, five runs, and two walks. Gonzalez has quiet hands and a decently big leg kick that helps him drive the ball. He showed the ability to hit the ball to centerfield for extra bases multiple times as well as the ability to crank the ball to left. This 2024 uncommitted dude from Hudson (TX) has natural pop and was a threat every time he stepped up to the plate.

Stat Line: 7-10, 2 2B, 3B, 4 RBI, 5R, 2 BB

Fletcher Dowell (Texas Twelve 2024 Gray)

Every team loves a doubles machine, and that’s exactly what Fletcher Dowell was this weekend for Texas Twelve 2024 Gray. Dowell finished the event with a 7-11 stat line that included for doubles, six RBI’s, six runs, and a walk. The 2024 uncommitted right hander from Lamar (TX) brings his right elbow up as he loads before taking it to the ball. He flashed the ability to go up the middle as well as pull the ball with authority. Dowell was controlling his at bats well and found himself on base almost every time he came up to home.

Stat Line: 7-11, 4 2B, 6 RBI, 6R, BB

Landon Mayne (ET Titans 16U Ballard)

ET Titans 16U Ballard’s Landon Mayne did just about everything for his squad in the Five Tool Louisiana LA Tech event. The uncommitted 2025 from Grand Saline (TX) was impressive through 13 at bat’s as he totaled 8 hits including two doubles. The RHH was able to get the bat on the ball and really focused on staying through the baseball. On the mound, Mayne was just as impressive as he racked up 11 strikeouts over 7.2 innings. This dude was a two-way stud over the course of the weekend and will look to continue building momentum throughout the remainder of the summer circuit.

Stat Line: 8-13, 2 2B, RBI, 2R, BB, 3 SB | 7.2 IP, 11K, R

Drew Jeong (NTX Tribe LaTorre)

NTX Tribe LaTorre’s Drew Jeong was a machine at the dish in the Five Tool Oklahoma OKC Cup this past weekend. The uncommitted 2025 from Wylie (TX) smoked not one but TWO inside-the-park home runs in Thursday’s action. The RHH stands tall at the plate and utilizes a small leg kick to provide pop and for timing. Jeong drove the ball well to all fields and showed off some plus speed on the basepaths. Was really impressed with this dude as he shined in all facets of the game. Get on this one.

Stat Line: 9-16, 2 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 6R, 2 BB, SB

Nate Rivera (AMG Elite)

Nate Rivera of AMG Elite was an impressive backstop this weekend in Southern California. At the plate, Rivera went 11-19 with three doubles, a triple, five runs driven in, three runs scored, and a walk. The 2024 uncommitted dude out of West Torrance (CA) stays low through his swing and has a good sized leg kick in the middle of it. Behind the dish, Rivera flashes an impressive arm and controls himself well back there. Rivera is a solid all around ballplayer at one of the most important positions and proved his value this weekend.

Tanner Willcoxson (Tustin Scorpions)

Tustin Scorpions Tanner Willcoxson put together a very solid weekend at the plate in the Five Tool California Junior and Senior AZFC Qualifier. The uncommitted 2023 from Orange Lutheran (CA) racked up four doubles and showcased a smooth and mature approach in the box. The RHH has good rhythm pre-pitch and gets the barrel out front to provide pop. This dude put on a show throughout the weekend and is a name scout’s should know as the summer season rolls on. Get on this dude now!

Owen Hooper (Prospects)

Owen Hooper of Prospects was close to perfect at the plate this weekend. His final line came in at 11-13 with three doubles, a triple, an RBI, five runs, and a stolen bag. Hooper utilized a toe tap in some at bats and a short stride in others. The 2024 uncommitted right out of Rider (TX) flashed impressive power too as he pulled the ball for extra bases to left field multiple times. Hooper had an advanced approach at the plate for someone his age and he was almost impossible to get out because of it.

Pitchers

Nic Peterson (Tustin Scorpions)

For the second time this summer, Tustin Scorpions’ Nic Peterson earns Dude of the Weekend honors after a dazzling outing in the Championship of the Five Tool California Junior and Senior AZFC Qualifier. The uncommitted 2023 from Orange Lutheran (CA) ran his fastball up to 85 MPH and featured excellent control of both his slider and changeup to keep hitters guessing. The LHP is calm, cool, and collected each time he toes the rubber and consistently attacks hitters early in counts. Peterson also showcased swing and miss stuff throughout the outing as he racked up a ridiculous 13 punchouts. This dude has quickly burst onto the scene this summer and is certainly a name to remember as he begins his senior season for a talented Orange Lutheran squad.

Evan Miranda (Tustin Scorpions)

Evan Miranda, another member of a loaded Tustin Scorpions team makes an appearance in our pitcher’s section of Dudes of the Weekend after a dominant outing in the Five Tool California Junior and Senior AZFC Qualifier. The 2023 University of Texas commit from Orange Lutheran (CA) overwhelmed hitters over six strong innings of work on Friday evening. The big righty ran his fastball up to 89 MPH and really baffled hitters with a curveball that sat 68-72 MPH. Miranda was able to get ahead early and often and utilized both exceptional stuff and control to pick up 10 strikeouts. This dude is a big arm in the 2023 class and will be fun to watch as he matures and adds more velocity to an already impressive arsenal of pitches.

Mason Miles (Tustin Scorpions)

Mason Miles of the Tustin Scorpions marks our third member of this talented rotation to be named a Dude of the Weekend after a dominant display in the Five Tool California Junior and Senior AZFC Qualifier. The uncommitted 2023 from Villa Park (CA) did not overwhelm hitters with big time velocity like his fellow teammates, Peterson and Miranda, however he racked up 14 strikeouts by displaying exceptional control and sequencing pitches in a mature way. The RHP used his offspeed pitches to his advantage and kept the opposition guessing. This dude knows how to pitch and will be an arm worth watching as he develops more velocity. Keep an eye on this one.

Alex Chavez (Long Beach Bears Navy)

Long Beach Bears Navy’s Alex Chavez was a workhorse on the bump this past weekend at the Five Tool California Junior and Senior AZFC Qualifier. The RHP worked efficiently over the course of eight innings and totaled a whopping 13 strikeouts. The uncommitted 2024 from Orange Lutheran (CA) utilizes an over-the-top arm path that makes it difficult for hitters to see the ball out of the hand. It will be interesting to see how Chavez grows and matures over the course of the next couple of summers as he already exhibits an impressive frame and stands tall on the mound. Keep tabs on this one.

Austin Allan (PFA Stars)

PFA Stars’ Austin Allan had himself a day on the hill this weekend. In his outing, Allan racked up ten strikeouts through six innings while only allowing one hit and one run. His fastball sat in the 80-82 MPH range and was getting swings and misses. He paired it with a curveball that had a sharp break to it and was able to locate it for strikes when he needed. This 2024 uncommitted dude from Oak Hill (CA) was in cruise control in his outing.

Eric Tenery (LBC National Winkler/Wicks)

LBC National Winkler/Wicks’ Eric Tenery went the distance this weekend, throwing seven shutout innings with twelve strikeouts and just one hit allowed. The left hander has a fastball that sits 82-85 MPH that sets up a sharp breaking ball that sits 68-70 MPH. He was able to locate the fastball up in the zone too, which got plenty of swings and misses. The 2023 uncommitted dude out of Tivy (TX) has clean mechanics and went back and forth between bringing his glove above his head and keeping it low in his windup. Tenery was as comfortable as it gets on the mound and was dicing his opponents up at the plate throughout the game.

Ty Rupe (Team Houston Showcase 2025)

A complete game shutout is always a thing of beauty and that’s exactly what Ty Rupe of Team Houston Showcase 2025 did this weekend on the bump. Rupe went seven innings while allowing just three hits and racked up ten strikeouts. The big righty has a fastball in the 80-82 MPH range that he pairs with a changeup in the 73-76 MPH range. This 2025 uncommitted dude out of Grand Oaks (TX) has a big frame on the mound and the ball jumps out of his hand. Rupe’s outing was a massive one for his club and he is a fun watch on the mound.

Chase McGarr (Trosky Texas 2024 Worley/Knoblauch)

Trosky Texas 2024 Worley/Knoblauch’s Chase McGarr went five innings and collected ten strikeouts while only allowing three hits and one run in his event this weekend. McGarr flashed a fastball that sat 81-84 MPH that had a nice run on it. He paired it with a 63-64 MPH curveball that had a big drop on it. The 2024 uncommitted dude out of Episcopal (TX) keeps his mechanics simple and is athletic on the mound. With the stuff he was showing, McGarr should have no trouble repeating his success that he had this weekend.

Logan Wade (MVP 17U)

Logan Wade of MVP 17U proved to be a dude on the hill this weekend. The right hander hurled six innings of shutout baseball and racked up 12 strikeouts while only allowing one hit. The 2023 uncommitted dude out of Newcastle (OK) is comfortable with his fastball, throwing it for strikes and getting ahead in the count consistently. He pairs it with a curveball that has some late break on it and a changeup that he locates down in the zone. This guy was dominating on the mound and had stuff that was overpowering hitters.

Diego De Luna (Scrappy Blacksox 2025)

Scrappy Blacksox 2025’s Diego De Luna was impressive on the rubber in his outing in the Five Tool California Sacramento Show. The uncommitted 2025 from Antioch Deer Valley (CA) was nearly unhittable over the course of five innings and showcased swing and miss stuff on his way to 12 punchouts. The RHP has a short arm path but manages to already run his fastball up to 85 MPH. As he continues to add strength, it will be fun to watch this dude continue climbing the velocity ranks. De Luna is a young arm that has plenty of potential to grow and prosper over the next few years. Watch out for this one.

Brady Baker (NTX Tribe Ronnau)

NTX Tribe Ronnau’s Brady Baker had himself a day on the mound this weekend. The 2024 uncommitted dude from Wylie (TX) went six innings, collected ten strikeouts, and allowed one run on just two hits. Baker throws out of a lower arm slot, giving his pitches some nasty movement. His offspeed stuff was particularly impressive, and he was able to create good spin and movement on them. Baker is a rare type of pitcher and a guy that throws hitters out of their rhythm.
